Domain Name

The address where internet users can access your website, your website name.

For example, in “” is the domain name

Temporary Internet File

Most commonly describes a portion of a hard drive space that’s set aside to gather frequently accessed information from your web browser.


A system designed to prevent unauthorized users from accessing private networks. Can be in hardware or software form. Designed to refuse all access requests unless configured to allow them.

IP Address

Can be internal or external. A label used to identify devices on a conmputer network. Similar to postal address for a house.

Mail Server

The online equivalent of a post office! The process of sending an email means the message goes through a series of transfers between these servers before arriving at the intended recipient.
